Initial Exploration

These images are from a two-day exploration utilizing Apple’s published library of components, including sections from a Webex library intended for the iPad version of the app. The purpose was to internally promote the project and generate excitement while engaging in discussions with leadership about potential project requirements.

Concepts and Direction

During this phase, I collaborated with the Apple Design Lab and Webex Leadership to address outstanding questions regarding the new platform. Our goal was to seamlessly integrate with both the platform’s aesthetics and the novel interaction paradigms for spatial computing. At this juncture, we chose to prioritize refining the pre-meeting and in-meeting experiences, deferring other features to subsequent updates due to time and resource constraints. Many early concepts, such as adding parallax to 2D participant videos or resizing participants in the grid, were tabled for this reason as well.

Concept Direction

The following concept was the intended direction when development started. As we got closer to production, the feasibility of some concept proved too difficult given the timeline. One such concept was the dynamic layout of participants. Engineering and PMs opted to use the existing view instead of rewriting in SWIFT to fit the preferred concept direction.

Outcome

The project is still in progress with elements being rewritten into SWIFT and styled as intended. The following recording is of the Sign-in flow, pre-meeting, and in-meeting experiences (without other participants).
